Counseling to help you navigate life challenges and transitions
I'm here to help you successfully navigate your journey, whether it's finding a new career direction, dealing with loss, or managing one of the many challenges we face along life's path.

Hi, I'm Lori Nicolaysen, LCMHCA
I provide online therapy and counseling for individuals in North Carolina who are navigating life transitions and challenges.

Whatever you are facing, my aim is to provide a warm, kind, grounded space in which you can gain mental clarity and access to internal and external resources. I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor associate in NC.
My counseling is informed by a humanistic approach. A collaborative, strengths-based, non-judgmental philosophy serves as a foundation for my work with all clients. I’m practical and aim to help clients achieve their goals. CBT and solution-focused brief therapy perspectives are integrated into my work when they are useful to the client. Wellness and mindfulness are also incorporated into my work.
I have 14 years of experience in the field of mental health counseling, including 10 years serving as a career counselor. In clinical and non-clinical capacities, I've spent most of my career working with graduate, undergraduate, and healthcare professional students.

Experience
For more than two decades I have been supporting a diversity of individuals undergoing career and life transitions. My work has included roles in career counseling, student affairs, and admissions at Duke University, Weill Cornell Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine, UC Davis’s School of Nursing, and the University of Virginia. From 2005 to 2010, I provided career and life coaching through my practice, Dreams to Careers.

It is these experiences that enable me to provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling tailored to each person’s unique journey. I am committed to helping individuals navigate complex life challenges and find clarity, strength, and direction along the way.
